Oboe and Cor Anglais
After studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Ruth has been busy as a freelance oboist and cor anglais player, based in London and travelling the world.
Ruth has worked with many major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and London Concert Orchestra.
In the world of opera and ballet Ruth has worked with English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, English National Opera, Wexford Opera, Longborough Opera and Dorset Opera.
As a soloist some recent performances include the Bach Oboe and Violin Concerto with Roger Coull from the Coull quartet, along with various concerto performances in Guernsey.
Ruth regularly performs in the studio as a session musician. She has played on various sound tracks including trailers for films such as The Hobbit and TV adverts such as the Nissan ad, along with film session work with The London Symphony Orchestra.
After graduating Ruth immediately toured for a month to South East Asia with the London Festival Orchestra.
Soon after that she undertook a period of work with the Cyprus State Orchestra as guest principal oboe.
Ruth has worked frequently in Scotland and Ireland. She has performed many times with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra including tours to Germany and Austria and the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast. She has also worked as guest principal oboe with both the RTE Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestras, playing in many live radio broadcasts and recordings. Ruth also plays in the internationally renowned Wexford Opera Festival and has toured with Camerata Ireland.
In 2012 Ruth worked with the Camerata de Mantua in Italy which involved performing concerts around Italy and a CD recording of Mozart piano concertos with Angela Hewitt. Also in the same year she took part in the Andrea Bocelli tour.
